Fourteen years after its original launch day, Red Dead Redemption, and its amazing spinoff DLC, Undead Nightmare, is finally galloping its way into PC on October 29, 2024.
2018’s Red Dead Redemption 2 is widely considered to be one of the greatest games ever made. Not only was it critically acclaimed for its narrative strengths, but it was also praised for its technical prowess. It’s visuals, physics, and gameplay mechanics are some of the best and most immersive of what you can find in the industry. But what about the first one?
For the longest time, John Marston’s adventures were only playable in the Xbox 360 and PS3. It wasn’t until just last year that Red Dead Redemption got ported over to the PS4, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch. Yet again, PC was left out. That all changes in a few weeks.
In collaboration with Double Eleven, Red Dead Redemption and Undead Nightmare is coming to PC with a host of new enhancements. This includes native 4K resolution at up to 144hz, 21:9 Ultrawide and 32:9 Super Ultrawide support, HDR10, and full keyboard and mouse controls.
If playing it for more than 60fps is already exciting, there will also be full support for NVIDIA DLSS 3.7 and AMD FSR 3.0 upscaling and frame generation. I believe that calls for a “yeehaw”.
All those years of begging for a PC port is finally paying off. No more emulations or weird backdoor solutions to play through the original masterpiece in its best-looking state. You can pre-purchase Red Dead Redemption and Undead Nightmare through Steam, Epic Games Store, or the Rockstar Store right now.
