Shortly after the game’s launch, SEGA announced that Sonic X Shadow Generations has now sold over 1 million units worldwide.
This new Sonic game was officially launched only a few days ago (October 25 specifically), though buyers of the premium edition got three-days of early access which began on October 22.
Even with this, it’s fair to say that the game has sold over 1 million units in less than a week, marking another big win not only for the Sonic franchise, but also for SEGA as a whole.
That’s because 2024 has been an incredibly good year for the publisher. For instance, various SEGA and Atlus titles have also gotten over 1 million copies sold, including Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, Unicorn Overlord, Metaphor: ReFantazio, and many more.
Aside from Sonic X Shadow Generations getting over the 1 million copies sold mark, 2024 is also a massive year for Sonic fans. After all, not only were they treated to a return of Shadow the Hedgehog in this new game, Shadow himself will also make his debut in the live-action Sonic 3 movie which comes out this December.
Sonic X Shadow Generations is available now on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.
