Bethesda recently released The Elder Scrolls Online Update 44 now for free on PC and Mac, featuring a wide array of improvements and new content.
To be exact, this new free update includes upgrades to the Battlegrounds PvP mode, along with two new companions which are a particular highlight.
As with other updates, this latest one has first gone live on PC and Mac, though Xbox and PlayStation versions of the game will receive the update on November 13, 2024.
In this new update, ESO’s PvP Battlegrounds is shifting to two-sided PvP matches instead of the previous three-sided one. With this update, players can now expect the following two match types:
- 4v4—a competitive mode between two teams of four
- 8v8—a standard mode featuring powerups and two teams of eight
Given this change, the previous three-sided 4v4v4 option won’t be available anymore, though Bethesda mentioned that it may be brought back for limited times in the future. While some players may be sad to see this option go, the new PvP format does come with seven brand-new maps.
Finally, the two new Companions in The Elder Scrolls Online Update 44 are Tanlorin and Zerith-var. Tanlorin is a High Elf who uses SOul Magic and Dragonknight abilities. Meanwhile, Zenith-var is a Khajit skilled in Necromancy. Note that these two allies can be acquired for with an active ESO Plus membership or as a purchase in the Crown Store.
