To celebrate the franchise’s milestone, Uniqlo announced its new Godzilla 70th Anniversary UT graphic tee collection.
The original Godzilla movie was released back in 1954, and since then, the franchise has become a worldwide phenomenon, with Godzilla films being produced in Japan and the US. Aside from being an icon of Japan, Godzilla has also continued to get great movie entries, with films like last year’s Godzilla Minus One even getting an Academy Award last year.
This Uniqlo collection celebrates arguably the first Kaiju, with designs inspired (mostly) by classic films in the franchise. Here’s a rundown of the five designs in the collection:
First up is a black t-shirt with an image of Godzilla’s first movie outing back in 1954, along with the 70th Anniversary text.
Next, we have a white t-shirt with a design based on the 1955 Godzilla Raids Again movie. This is the second film in the franchise, and this tee depicts the iconic battle between Godzilla and Anguirus in Osaka Castle.
Now, here is a cool retro tee based on the 1972 Godzilla vs. Gigan movie. This t-shirt features the film’s logo and visual.
Here we have another white tee, this time based on Terror of Mechagodzilla released in 1975. The front features the title logo and Godzilla’s face while at the back is the film’s poster.
Rounding out the collection is a Godzilla Minus One tee, with the poster at the front and the logo at the back.
The Uniqlo x Godzilla 70th Anniversary collection will be released in late October 2024 in stores nationwide and via the Uniqlo Philippines website.
