Civilization VII Exploration Age livestream dives deep into the game’s systems

Firaxis has also shared plenty of Civilization VII info over the past weeks.

In the leadup to the game’s launch, Firaxis held the Exploration Age community livestream that revealed more details about Civilization VII.

The latest livestream from Firaxis focused on the Exploration Age, including the new Treasure Fleet Gameplay System. In case you missed it, Civ 7 will feature three distinct ages during gameplay: the Antiquity Age, the Exploration Age, and the Modern Age. How it works is that you won’t just play one Civilization in each campaign playthrough. Instead, you’ll play as three as each Age has a different lineup of Civs to choose from.

For reference, if you play as an Egyptian Civ in the Antiquity Age, you can choose from a range of other Civs when an Age Transition happens. Of course, the Civs you can choose will depend on historical and other factors.

You can find out more about the second Age by watching the livestream VOD here:

Aside from this deep dive into the Exploration Age, Firaxis and 2K have also shared many new details regarding Civilization VII over the past weeks.

For starters, more Dev Diaries have been released, including ones that focus on Leaders and Civs and another on Empire Management. There are also First Looks at various Civ 7 leaders such as Augustus, Confucius, Tecumseh, Trung Trac, Ashoka, and more.

Finally, there new entries have been added to the Civilization VII Game Guide which should make it easier for newer players to get started with the game when it finally launches.

Civilization VII will be released on February 11, 2025, on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Switch, PC, Mac, and Linux.
