While some fans were hoping for an update, CD Projekt RED confirmed that they are not working on a PS5 Pro patch for Cyberpunk 2077.
Following the PS5 Pro’s launch, many Cyberpunk players hoped that CD Projekt RED would work on a patch for the game that adds a 4K 60FPS with ray tracing option. After all, the PS5 Pro should have enough power to run the game at 4K 60FPS with RT. For reference, the base PS5 (with the next-gen update) has a 4K 60 FPS performance mode and an RT mode that drops the framerate to 30 FPS but adds ray-traced shadows.
For the most part, both modes run well, but there are still frame drops in performance mode, especially when going to busy areas with a lot of NPCs. With the PS5 Pro’s hardware, this shouldn’t be an issue with a proper patch.
Sadly, CD Projekt RED has no plans to develop a patch, as confirmed via a post by the game’s official X. While it wasn’t an official announcement, the post was an answer to a Cyberpunk 2077 player’s query about a potential PS5 Pro patch.
This means players who are still enjoying Cyberpunk 2077 on PS5 will have to live with the frame drops at certain points. Thankfully, these aren’t game-breaking as Cyberpunk 2.0 fixed a lot of issues when it was released last year.
Following CD Projekt RED’s post though, fans replied, stating that they hope the developers reconsider. Given that the post said that there are “currently no plans for a PS5 Pro patch,” the hope here is that the studio reconsiders.
This is assuming they have the bandwidth to work on one though. After all, the studio is busy with projects like the Unreal Engine 5 Witcher remake.
