This weekend’s HUAWEI “Tech with Love” pop-up event managed to draw over 20,000 visitors to Bonifacio Global City, and to much fanfare. After transforming the city’s 5th avenue into an interactive showcase of innovative technology and wellness features, both fans and curious onlookers got a taste of what HUAWEI has to offer.
The two-day event centered around HUAWEI’s Pet Panda Wonderland theme, featuring 3D installations and interactive stations where visitors could experience the company’s latest devices, including the HUAWEI WATCH GT 5 Series, WATCH D2, and MatePad Pro 12.2″.
Filipino celebrities Sofia Andres and Jericho Rosales appeared at the event to share their experiences with the WATCH GT 5 Series. “I absolutely love how the HUAWEI WATCH GT 5 Pro keeps me connected. I can take calls or reply to messages, while also monitoring my health and tracking my workouts,” said Andres. “Having the cute Pet Panda reminding me to take breaks for my emotional wellbeing adds a fun touch to my day, too!”
Rosales highlighted the watch’s sports capabilities, stating, “The watch is beneficial for both road and trail runners, with its Running Form Analysis feature optimizing running technique and preventing injury. And for divers, the pro Freediving mode provides added peace of mind while exploring underwater.”
HUAWEI also announced the integration of WATCH Pay, making it the Philippines’ first smartwatch to feature GCash QR code payment capabilities. The feature began rolling out on November 9 and will be available on all HUAWEI smartwatches by November 15, with iOS support coming December 15.
The event showcased the WATCH D2, HUAWEI’s first smartwatch with ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM), allowing visitors to experience 24-hour blood pressure monitoring through its mechanical airbag system and HUAWEI TruSense technology.
Visitors also explored the creative capabilities of the MatePad Pro 12.2″ tablet at the “Go Paint Your Imagination” station. HUAWEI announced its GoPaint Worldwide Creating Activity 2024, inviting Filipino artists to submit entries under the theme “Creative by Nature” until December 31. Winners will receive $1,000 cash prizes and opportunities for art exhibitions, with results to be announced in 2025.
The judging panel includes concept artists from “The Mandalorian” and “Avatar: Way of the Water,” John Park, Forbes Under 30 honoree Victo Ngai, “Avengers: Endgame” senior concept artist Pablo Dominguez, and HUAWEI Milan Aesthetic Research Center’s digital creative director Marco La Mantia.
