Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii shares interview with Munetaka Aoki

Aoki voices Teruhiko Shigaki, a former yakuza.

SEGA and RGG Studio recently shared an interview with Munetaka Aoki, one of the main cast members of Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii.

This is the second in what looks to be an interview series which began last week with the release of an interview with First Summer Uika. Unlike First Summer Uika though who has already starred in Like a Dragon Gaiden as Akame, Pirate Yakuza is the first game in the series for Munetaka Aoki.

Aoki is best known for his role as Sanosuke Sagara in the live-action Rurouni Kenshin movies. More recently, he played Goro Majima in the live-action Prime Video Like a Dragon show. In this upcoming Yakuza game, Aoki stars as Teruhiko Shigaki, a former yakuza whose story ties into the events of Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth.

This interview with Aoki reveals the actor’s thoughts on joining the beloved Like a Dragon series after playing Goro Majima in the Amazon Original series. You can watch the interview now on the official SEGA YouTube channel.

Aoki’s character in the game is an interesting one. That’s because the character Teruhiko Shigaki is an ex-Tojo Clan patriarch who is a surprisingly caring individual and excels as a negotiator.

After the Great Dissolution, he came to Hawaii as a volunteer to clean up the nuclear waste on Nele Island. There, he will cross paths with the Mad Dog of Shimano, albeit one whose memories are gone.

Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii will be released on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC on February 21, 2025.
