While the movie is coming out this December in the US, Sonic the Hedgehog 3 will be released in cinemas in the Philippines in January. The film’s PH premiere was revealed shortly after the release of the new official trailer.
Specifically, while Sonic fans in the US will be able to watch the movie on December 20, Pinoy fans will need to wait until January 15, 2025. While the distributor did not mention a specific reason for the film’s delay, it’s likely because of the Metro Manila Film Festival which is happening from December 25, 2024, to January 7, 2025.
This is nothing new for Pinoy movie fans as MMFF films take over pretty much every cinema in the country during its two-week run. As such, international films released in that period are either delayed or are only shown in specialty cinemas like IMAX theaters.
Alongside the announcement of its PH release, new posters for the movie were also shared. Check them out here:
It’s a bit of a shame that the movie’s release is delayed in the PH, especially considering this third Sonic movie is shaping up to be an exciting one. After all, it features fan-favorite Shadow the Hedgehog who is voiced in this film by Keanu Reeves.
The film’s premise is described as:
Sonic the Hedgehog returns to the big screen in his most thrilling adventure yet. Sonic, Knuckles, and Tails reunite against a powerful new adversary, Shadow, a mysterious villain with powers unlike anything they have faced before. With their abilities outmatched in every way, Team Sonic must seek out an unlikely alliance in hopes of stopping Shadow and protecting the planet.
While fans will need to wait a bit longer for the Sonic 3 release in the Philippines, they can at least look forward to the special DLC Movie Pack that’s coming to Sonic X Shadow Generations this December.
