The video game industry’s most anticipated year-end celebration, The Game Awards, is gearing up for its 10th anniversary show, and it all begins with the announcement of which titles have the chance to be awarded. The Game Awards 2024 nominees will be revealed during a Nominations Special on Monday, November 18, at 9 am PT (November 19, 1 am PHT).
Online viewers can tune in live on The Game Awards’ official YouTube and Twitch channels to catch the announcements across 29 categories, including Game of the Year, Best Game Direction, Best Independent Game, Best Performance, and Best Adaptation.
The nominees are selected by a global jury of over 130 media publications and creator outlets. After the announcement, fans will be able to cast their own votes for their favorite games, studios, and creatives through authenticated online voting from November 18 until December 11 at 6 pm PT.
The Game Awards 2024 will take place on Thursday, December 12, at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.
As one would expect, the event promises to feature world premiere announcements, exclusive trailers, and live performances by The Game Awards Orchestra, conducted by the award-winning Lorne Balfe. Fans can also expect plenty of surprises as the event honors the top games, creatives, and studios of the year.
The Game Awards 2023 set a high bar, debuting trailers for blockbuster titles such as Exodus (Archetype Entertainment), God of War Ragnarok: Valhalla (Santa Monica Studio and Sony Interactive Entertainment), and Monster Hunter Wilds (Capcom). Appearances by industry icons like Hideo Kojima, Christopher Judge, Anthony Mackie, and Timothée Chalamet made last year’s event a star-studded affair.
Executive producers Geoff Keighley and Kimmie Kim, alongside creative director LeRoy Bennett and director Richard Preuss, aim to make The Game Awards’ 10th anniversary an unforgettable experience. Since its inception in 2014, The Game Awards has embraced live streaming, and 2024 will continue this tradition. The show will stream for free across more than 30 digital platforms worldwide, including audiences in China and South Korea. Last year, The Game Awards set a record with 118 million global livestreams, a 15% increase over the previous year, with more than 17,000 creators and influencers co-streaming the event.
Accessibility remains a priority, with Audio Descriptive and ASL versions of the livestream available on YouTube.
