Imagine a reality wherein Japan bought majority of the United States of America. Hollywood sign? Nah, we got Neo Yokohama. Whatever iconic American imagery you have, replace it with Japanese culture and influence. Oh, zombies and criminals roam the streets as well. It’s a post-apocalyptic romance RPG alternate history ensemble period drama.

When it comes to video game trailers, we expect to see a snapshot of what we should expect from the game. What’s the story like? What art style are they using? What time period will it be? What will the gameplay be? Is there going to be a serious or a light tone to it? If you ask Showa American Story what would they want to focus on for their big reveal trailer, the answer is: Yes.
The game is set in America, with the world and story filled to the brim with Japanese elements, all made by a Chinese developer. You could not have written a better and more ironic statement.
In a time where consumers are so concerned about whether or not a product is culturally appropriate or respectful of the material it’s using, the developers at Nekcom are just full sending it. And we’re absolutely here for it. Just look at the YouTube comments on the trailer. This is easily one of the most anticipated titles of 2025.
