Stellar Blade is one of 2024’s best action games with its stylish visuals, incredible character models, and a sci-fi world that definitely took inspiration from Nier: Automata. It was seems like a match made in heaven, the mad lads actually did it. The latest Stellar Blade update brings in a whole host of new gameplay features while also including the much-requested collaboration with Nier: Automata. Here’s what you can expect.
The game has, and full pun intended, a stellar approach when it comes to handling their DLC. Ever since its release, Shift Up has been releasing regular updates to the game, completely for free. This includes a bunch of new outfits for EVE and some limited time modes. It’s safe to say that the developers have successfully garnered enough recognition and praise from fans.
The massive boom in popularity of live service games have caused some of their questionable monetary practices to bleed into singleplayer games. But Stellar Blade stands firm above the rest in providing a player-centric approach with substantial free additions. Given their excellent track record, it’s completely valid that they’re now charging for the game’s first big collaboration with Nier: Automata, an iconic title that fans have drawn comparisons to since day one.
The developers behind Stellar Blade have been very candid about how much Nier: Automata inspired their work. Stellar Blade’s director, Kim Hyung Tae and Nier: Automata’s Yoko Taro worked in close collaboration with one another to bring this fusion of 2 critically acclaimed IPs together.
At the center of the DLC is Emil’s shop where you can get special collaboration items. The most exciting of which is the 4 new outfits, coming straight out of the Nier: Automata universe. Everyone already knows how fantastic Eve’s fits are. This new DLC is looking to continue the momentum. If you’re a fan of Nier, you’d definitely want to pick this up.
But it’s not just that. The Stellar Blade Nier: Automata DLC also comes with an update that is available for all players for free. The biggest inclusion is the highly requested Photo Mode which allows you to pose the characters and dress them up for a shot. Some quality-of-life changes also include new lip-sync for six languages (French, Spanish, Italian, German, Portuguese, and Latin American Spanish), ability to select a song in the turntables, a “No Ponytail” option can be toggled in the settings, and auto-targeting and ballistics correction will be applied to enemy insta-kill skills.
The Stellar Blade x Nier: Automata DLC is available now.
