The Honor of Kings universe expands today with the release of “The Way of All Things,” an episode in Prime Video’s acclaimed animated anthology Secret Level. Written by JT Petty and adapted from a short story by S.L. Huang, the episode introduces Yi Xing, a brand-new hero who now joins the game’s roster.
“The Way of All Things” traces Yi Xing’s journey from a young boy learning the ancient Chinese strategy game Weiqi (known internationally as Go) to becoming a master whose skills are tested in a high-stakes match that could determine the fate of the city of Chang’an.
The Secret Level production team drew inspiration from Honor of Kings’ Chinese origins, delivering an authentic Chinese aesthetic with the latest episode. This cultural identity is particularly evident in the scenes featuring Weiqi, with intricate gameplay sequences that reflect both the game’s beauty and its strategic complexity.
Following his introduction in Secret Level, Yi Xing is now available as a playable hero in Honor of Kings. A Mage specializing in mid-lane control and team support, Yi Xing brings a unique Weiqi-inspired playstyle to the battlefield.
His skills include:
- Kiai: Yi Xing becomes immune to lethal damage periodically, and his skills apply an “Anti-Qi” mark to enemies, amplifying his abilities.
- Joseki: Places a Weiqi counter at a designated location, granting vision for three seconds and dealing magic damage.
- Atari: Creates a Weiqi formation that damages enemies in a designated area, pulling them toward the center for additional magic damage.
- Capture: Traps enemy heroes within a massive Weiqi board, immobilizing them for strategic takedowns.
Yi Xing is particularly effective when paired with Heroes like Lu Bu, creating devastating combos through his crowd control and burst damage capabilities.
To celebrate Yi Xing’s arrival, Honor of Kings is hosting in-game events and encouraging players to showcase their creativity with Yi Xing-inspired cosplays. Fans can explore his story further in Secret Level’s “The Way of All Things.”
