Kenji Matsuda is the next cast member to feature in Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii’s interview series

This is Kenji Matsuda's first role in the Like a Dragon series.

Following the recent video featuring Shunsuke Daitoh, SEGA and RGG Studio shared the latest in its Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii interview series, this time featuring Kenji Matsuda.

Matsuda is a Japanese actor who is best known for playing notable roles in tokusatsu titles, including various Kamen Rider shows. Meanwhile, in the world of video games, Matsuda voiced Baud in the Wii game Dragon Quest Swords.

Pirate Yakuza is the first Like a Dragon game for Kenji Matsuda, and in the interview with RGG Studio, he shared how he felt after being cast. He also shared some insights on his character, Jason Rich.

You can watch the interview on SEGA’s official channel.

Matsuda plays Jason Rich, the father of Noah and the owner of the only bar on Rich island. His backstory is described as:

Noah’s father and the owner of the sole bar on Rich Island. As a former treasure hunter, he once sailed a ship around the world in search of riches. Now, he’s rarely even sober during the day.

As Noah’s father, we expect to see Jason Rich play a big role in the game. While it’s not clear what his dynamic with Goro Majima will be, we bet he’ll be a major ally, as is the case with bartender characters from other Yakuza titles.

Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii launches on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC on February 21, 2025.
