Mai Shiranui is coming to Street Fighter 6 in early 2025

Fatal Fury fans are in for a treat!

Following the release of Terry Bogard, Capcom announced that Mai Shiranui is the next guest character in Street Fighter 6!

Street Fighter has long been one of the few fighting game franchises with no guest characters. This all changed in 2024 though as Capcom added Fatal Fury’s Terry Bogard as a DLC character. Capcom and SNK’s team-up hasn’t stopped there though as the fan-favorite Mai Shiranui is the second guest character (for both the game and the series) to be revealed.

Mai will join Street Fighter 6 as a Year 2 DLC character in early 2025, as confirmed via the official teaser trailer. Aside from her release window, Mai’s teaser trailer also highlights her look in the game, along with some of her moves.

Even for those who don’t really pay SNK fighting games much, Mai should still be a popular character as she’s a popular subject of fanart and cosplay. Given her iconic look, Mai’s Street Fighter appearance doesn’t alter her style much as she’s still in her signature red ninja outfit and sports large fans.

In the teaser, Mai is shown using her Shiranui-style ninjutsu and commanding “flames.” She’s also shown using “Hishou Ryuuenjin,” her singnature move where she slices does a backflip kick that bursts in flames as it lands.

Street Fighter 6 players will be able to play Mai Shiranui in the game’s Fighting Ground mode. She will also appear in the new World Tour area, “Aokigahara.” Of course, as a DLC character, players will need to have the Year 2 Character Pass to play as Mai.

Street Fighter 6 is available now on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam.
