Netflix to stream new Uzumaki anime series in Asia

It may not be the best series, but it's first episode is at least quite impressive.

Following its initial release back in late September, Netflix announced that it will stream the Uzumaki anime series in Asia later this month.

In case you missed it, the four-episode Uzumaki anime premiered back in September on Adult Swim and other select platforms, though its availability was limited to the US and other select regions which doesn’t include Asia.

Now though, Netflix confirmed that it will stream the anime in Asia on December 20. This was revealed alongside the release of the Uzumaki series trailer on the official Netflix Anime website.

While it’s the same trailer as the one shared before on Adult Swim’s pages, anime fans who haven’t seen it yet should check it out here:

Even if you haven’t seen the anime, chances are that you’ve read or watched reactions to the Uzumaki anime. While Episode 1 got a lot of praise, the series was criticized for its steep decline in quality, especially regarding its animation.

Aside from its animation, many viewers also criticized it for its lackluster story, with many saying that it’s not a proper adaptation of Junji Ito’s iconic work. Currently, the series has a low 5.92 rating on MyAnimeList.

Despite the reception, Uzumaki is still worth checking out for some anime fans, especially as it’s just a short series that still has some entertainment value. Plus, even if the rest of the episodes are lackluster, the first episode is still quite good.
