Overwatch 2 brings back 6v6 alongside the Winter Wonderland event

The 6v6 mode from Overwatch 1 is back, though only for a limited time.

To celebrate the holiday season, Blizzard has brought back its Winter Wonderland event to Overwatch 2 along with the “classic” 6v6 mode.

When Overwatch 2 was launched, its biggest change was no doubt the shift to the 5v5 format. By popular demand though, Blizzard has brought back 6v6 in the form of a limited-time mode. Specifically, the game will feature a 2-2-2 setup with balance changes to make the game fairer for the 6v6 format. Note that this mode will only be available until January 6, 2025.

Aside from the return of 6v6, Winter Wonderland also features various login rewards, including a new snowflake icon and a new Darumari souvenir.

As for game modes, Winter Wonderland features Winter Brawls, including the returning Mei’s Snowball Offensive, Mei’s Yeti Hunt, and Freeze Flash Elimination.

For many Overwatch players, skins are the best additions during seasonal events. As such, Winter Wonderland 2024 features new skins that players can earn for free.

First is a Casual Hanzo skin that can be claimed by completing Winter Wonderland challenges. Starting December 20, players will also get a chance to receive three more skins. These include new Legendary Skins for Echo, Cole Cassidy, and Widomaker.

Finally, players can buy premium bundles, including one that features the Happy Holly Mercy Skin. This bundle also includes a name card, player icon, and a spray.

The Overwatch 2 Winter Wonderland seasonal event and the 6v6 game mode is live now until January 6, 2025.
