Every year, The Game Awards features a wide array of trailers and updates for upcoming titles. The 2024 edition was no different as it showed new trailers of highly-anticipated games. More excitingly, the show featured a bunch of unexpected announcements.

In case you missed the show, or just want a handy recap, here are the biggest announcements at The Game Awards 2024:

The Witcher IV

The Witcher IV’s reveal trailer was no doubt the highlight of the event for many as it confirms that Ciri is the game’s protagonist. While it doesn’t show gameplay footage, it does at least give fans an idea of what to expect in the next Witcher installment.

Elden Ring Nightrein

Probably one of the most surprising reveals of the night was Elden Ring Nightrein. This is not a DLC as it’s instead a new PvE multiplayer co-op game with rougelite elements set in “a universe parallel to the events of Elden Ring.” What got many fans excited is the fact that it seemingly features characters from Dark Souls, including the Nameless King and the Firekeeper.

The Outer Worlds 2

The Outer Worlds 2 has been announced before, but now, the game finally got its first gameplay reveal trailer ahead of its 2025 release. It’s a fairly short trailer, but it is packed with new clips.

Clive is Coming to Tekken 8

Tekken 8 has gotten several fan-favorite characters, but now, the game is getting its first guest character in Clive. The Final Fantasy XVI protagonist will be released with 72-hour early access on December 17 (PH Time) as the final Year 1 DLC character.

Project Century

RGG Studio revealed an interesting new game that’s currently called Project Century, and it’s set in 1915 Japan. It’s not clear if it’s a Like a Dragon spinoff in the vein of Judgment, but it does feel familiar enough to make it an intriguing game for Yakuza fans.

New Virtua Fighter Project

RGG Studio also revealed that a new Virtua Fighter Project is in the works. It has been nearly two decades since Virtua Fighter 5’s initial release, so it’s great to see the series make a comeback.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword

Speaking of comebacks, another franchise that’s getting a new entry after many years is Onimusha. The new game is titled Onimusha: Way of the Sword, and it is set to launch in 2026.

Borderlands 4

Following its initial reveal, Borderlands 4 finally got an official first look. It’s another short trailer, but it does at least feature proper gameplay clips that should delight fans of the series.

Okami Sequel

Okami is back as Capcom announced that a sequel is in the works. While there’s not a lot of info yet, the great news is that Hideki Kamiya is on board to direct this next Okami title.

Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet

The event’s final world premiere is Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, a new game from Naughty Dog. Based on the trailer, this game features a retro sci-fi style and melee combat. Following the trailer, Naughty Dog revealed that this game follows Jordan A. Mun, a bounty hunter who gets stranded in the remote planet of Sempiria.

There’s no release info yet, but it was confirmed that the game’s score is made by Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross.
