Dorohedoro Season 2 is set to premiere sometime in 2025

It has been a long time coming, but finally, Dorohedoro Season is coming this year!

After its announcement almost exactly one year ago, MAPPA has finally revealed that Dorohedoro Season 2 will be released in 2025.

Specifically, the next season’s 2025 premiere was confirmed via an announcement on the official Dorohedoro website. There, a new teaser visual for the show was shared, featuring storyboards that hint at what’s to come.

Aside from the 2025 release, the visual also confirmed that director Yuichiro Hayashi (of Attack on Titan: The Final Season fame) is returning to helm the new season. This should come as no surprise given that the first Dorohedoro season is a passion project of sorts for Hayashi.

In case you haven’t seen it yet, the first season of Dorohedoro is streaming on Netflix, and it’s a must-watch. Sure, the 3D animation may take some time to get used to, but the show’s unique and gritty setting, coupled with its memorable characters make it a thrilling ride. Do take note that the show isn’t for the faint of heart.

To give you a better idea of what the series is about, its premise is described as:

In a city so dismal it’s known only as “the Hole,” a clan of Sorcerers have been plucking people off the streets to use as guinea pigs for atrocious “experiments” in the black arts. In a dark alley, Nikaido found Caiman, a man with a reptile head and a bad case of amnesia. To undo the spell, they’re hunting and killing the Sorcerers in the Hole, hoping that eventually they’ll kill the right one. But when En, the head Sorcerer, gets word of a lizard-man slaughtering his people, he sends a crew of “cleaners” into the Hole, igniting a war between two worlds.

For now, there’s no word on an official release date for Dorohedoro Season 2, though it’s likely that its premiere will happen later in 2025. Fingers crossed that it at least premieres in Summer 2025 so we won’t have to wait too long.

If you can’t wait, you can instead read the original Dorohedoro manga. As someone who devoured the manga after finishing the first season back in 2020, I highly recommend giving it a shot.
