Lost Records: Bloom & Rage | All We Know So Far

From saving bae over bay, to uniting with the besties.

Tekken 8 Weekend Deal

After being revealed at the 2023 Game Awards, there is no mistaking that French game publisher, Don’t Nod (of Life is Strange fame) will be expected to deliver on their all-new adventure story-driven game, Lost Records: Bloom & Rage. This next game from the studio tackles a group of friends’ journey through time.

Here’s all we know so far about Don’t Nod’s next adventure game:

From the Creative Minds of Life Is Strange

Lost Records: Bloom & Rage is set during the magical summer of 1995, where self-discovery and forging unbreakable bonds bloom among high school friends Swann, Nora, Autumn, and Kat. 27 years of no contact later, fate reunites them to confront the long-buried secret that made them promise to never speak again.

The game is being developed by Don’t Nod Montreal, which would also be set as the publisher’s first fully-developed project; with later projects such as Life is Strange and Life is Strange 2 being developed by Don’t Nod as a whole but published by Square Enix.

The Theme and Gameplay

In the months leading after its initial reveal, the game has been steadily building up hype through a series of gameplay and cinematic trailers; all of which slowly reveal the game’s characters and the story that it’s trying to tell.

And much like Life is Strange, Lost Records: Bloom & Rage will, of course, tackle something supernatural of the sort that’s absolutely central as to why our group of heroes eventually reunite after 27 years. Now, if that concept sounds familiar to you (Stephen King’s It), don’t worry… you’re not alone on this.

The key component of the entire game is the friendship between our four protagonists, Swann, Nora, Autumn, and Kate. Don’t Nod’s development has gone through a significant evolution over the years, and now with the upcoming release of Lost Records, the game’s visual fidelity and sense of immersion couldn’t get any better than this. Every significant little detail, from the game’s lighting, down to the character designs, it’s really shaping up to be the publisher’s most visually stunning title to date.

Lost Records: Bloom & Rage is a story about friendship, and ensuring that every choice you make will benefit not only Swann but the rest of the people around her. The game engages the player in an immersive world, complete with a set of choice-based interactions wherein any response can garner a different reaction to either the world or even your friends in general.

You also have the option to grab your camcorder, so you can explore the game through a different set of lenses (quite literally). And in the entire process, you’ll be able to treasure the memories you’re making with your childhood friends, even using it to solve in-game puzzles along the way.

The Game’s Place of Interest

Lost Records: Bloom & Rage is set in the fictional sleepy little town by the name of Velvet Cove. Situated between dense woodlands and serene lakes, it’s surely a locale that’s ripe with both curiosity and the bizarre. With each moment in time, Swann and her friends will take time to explore this ethereal place of interest that’s sprinkled with a dream pop soundtrack and bursts of nostalgia.

When is the Release Date?

Much like Life is Strange, Lost Records: Bloom & Rage is going to be released through episodes; or as the game refers to them as “tapes”. Tape 1 will be released next month on February 18, 2025, while Tape 2 releases the following month on March 18, 2025. The game is set to be released on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam.
