TBA Studios officially begins production on ‘Quezon’ – coming later this year
The third movie in the "Bayaniverse" is finally beginning production.
It has been nearly seven years since Goyo, though finally, TBA Studios is beginning production on the historical film “Quezon.”
TBA Studios might be known now for distributing films like Everything Everywhere All at Once and Past Lives, but the studio has also created the “Bayaniverse,” the series of films based on Philippine history.
Quezon is set to be the third in the Bayaniverse, with the first two being 2015’s Heneral Luna and 2018’s Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral. It may have taken a while, but finally, the movie will begin filming in March 2025.
As its title implies, the movie will follow the life of Manuel L. Quezon, a key figure in Philippine history. While watching the Heneral Luna and Goyo will give the best experience, this upcoming movie is set to have a standalone story.
While there’s no word yet on the cast, more info will be revealed soon. In the meantime, it’s confirmed that Heneral Luna and Goyo director Jerrold Tarog is returning to helm this next Bayaniverse project.
Even though the movie will only begin filming this March, TBA Studios shared that their intention is for Quezon to be released later in 2025. Aside from a Philippine release, TBA Studios also intends to release the movie internationally.
We’ll have to wait and see if the film’s 2025 release will indeed happen given the tight production time. So, fingers crossed that filming goes off without a hitch.
