The Last of Us Season 2 premieres on HBO and Max this April

The long-awaited second season is just a few months away!

It has been two years since the first season, and finally, The Last of Us Season 2 is finally confirmed to premiere in April 2025 on HBO and Max.

The new season’s release month was announced by Sony at CES 2025 alongside the reveal of new PlayStation Studios adaptations. It’s not just the premiere month that was announced though as the next season of The Last of Us also got a new trailer which you can watch here:

The second season will be seven episodes long, and based on the trailer, it will cover the Last of Us Part 2 game. Given that it will only be seven episodes long, coupled with the fact that Part 2 is a longer game, it’s possible that the second season will not cover the entirety of the second game.

For Season 2, returning cast members include Pedro Pascal as Joel, Bella Ramsey as Ellie, Gabriel Luna as Tommy, and Rutina Wesley as Maria. They will be joined by new cast members, including Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, Isabela Merced as Dina, Young Mazino as Jesse, Ariela Barer as Mel, Tati Gabrielle as Nora, Spencer Lord as Owen, Danny Ramirez as Manny, and Jeffrey Wright as Isaac.

For now, there’s no word yet on a specific release date, though what’s certain is that it will have a weekly release schedule on HBO and Max.
