Following its recent Japanese theatrical run, Colorful Stage The Movie: A Miku Who Can’t Sing is officially coming to cinemas in the Philippines soon.

The film’s PH release was revealed by Medialink Films Philippines earlier this week. While there’s no specific release date yet, this is still great news for Pinoy anime fans. After all, it should mean the movie will be released sometime in the coming months. Hopefully, it’s a bit earlier than the NA release which is scheduled in April 2025.

In case you missed its announcement, Colorful Stage The Movie: A Miku Who Can’t Sing is a new anime movie by P.A. Works, the studio behind notable titles like Ya Boy Kongming, Skip and Loafer, and Akiba Maid War.

As its title implies, this film is based on the Hatsune Miku Colorful Stage mobile game which not only features addictive rhythm gameplay, but also a pretty deep story and lore.

The new movie’s premise is described as:

“COLORFUL STAGE! The Movie: A Miku Who Can’t Sing is an animation film by studio P.A.WORKS featuring an all-new Hatsune Miku and the first film with the iconic Virtual Singer. Based on HATSUNE MIKU: COLORFUL STAGE!, a game about high school students finding their true feelings through music in an alternate world called “SEKAI” with the help of Hatsune Miku.

Ichika is a high school musician who can enter a mysterious place called “SEKAI,” where she and her friends express their innermost emotions through music alongside Hatsune Miku. One day after giving a live performance, Ichika meets a new Miku that she has never seen before. No matter how hard this new Miku tries to sing, she struggles connecting with the hearts of her listeners. Miku must rely on the help of others to find a way to sing again.”

While the film’s story should make it a must-watch for Colorful Stage players, it should also be worth watching for most anime fans. After all, this is the first film featuring Hatsune Miku in a lead role.
