Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising Version 2.00 adds Sandalphon to the roster

The latest version update also comes with a new battle pass with lots of additional content.

Cygames recently launched Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising Version 2.00, a big new update that adds the new playable character Sandalphon along with Battle Pass Round 7.

The Version 2.00 update is a massive one as it not only features a new playable character, but also a wide array of content. Here’s a rundown of what you can expect in the new version which was released yesterday, February 26:

  • Playable character: Sandalphon
  • New part 3 story episode
  • New stage: Canaan Shrine
  • New game mode: Survival Mode
  • Various new in-game features
  • Online training mode
  • New online lobby mini-game: SHARK TO GLORY
  • Various battle and character adjustments
  • Battle Pass Round 7

Of course, the highlight of the version is Sandalphon, the latest character in the game. He is voiced by Kenichi Suzumura in the JP dub and Howard Wagn in the EN dub.

Sandalphon’s character and backstory is described as:

Sandalphon is a powerful primal beast known as the supreme primarch, leader of the angels. He inherited this position from Lucifer, to whom he is eternally devoted. There was a time, however, when Sandalphon resented the skies and sought to bring calamity thundering down on all its creatures. He will bear this crime for the rest of his existence, even as he watches over the Sky Realm and the perpetually evolving lives that inhabit it.

To get this new character, players can purchase the new Sandalphon character set DLC which is priced at USD 7.99 and includes:

  • Playable Character: Sandalphon
  • Premium Avatar: Sandalphon
  • Badge: Sandalphon
  • Weapon Cutout: Apprentice
  • Figure Studio poses 1–6 and expressions 1–7 for Sandalphon
  • Bonus item for the original Granblue Fantasy mobile game (PlayStation®5 and PlayStation®4 purchases only)

Players can also get him with the Deluxe Character Pass 2 which is now available. The pass’s upcoming characters have also been revealed at the recent Evo Awards:

  • Sandalphon: February 26, 2025
  • Galleon: Spring 2025
  • Wilnas: Summer 2025
  • Meg: Fall 2025
  • Ilsa: Early 2026

If that’s not enough, there’s also a surprise collab with the Pop Team Epic, the hit comedy anime from 2018. This collab DLC set features Premium Avatars and Badges for Popuko and Pipimi, and it’s priced at USD 5.99.

Then, there’s the new Battle Pass Round 7 which includes additional in-game items that can be unlocked. These include character illustrations, music, badges, trophies, and more.

As for the Premium tier which is priced at USD 7.99, players can get Arbitrator of the Shore costume for Zooey along with exclusive character colors and weapon skins.

Cygames is also celebrating the new version update with a Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising sale that gives it a 61% discount on the PlayStation Store and Steam. This sale is available for both the Standard and Deluxe Editions.
