Japan Airlines teams up with Gundam for a special Mobile Suit-themed plane
This Gundam-themed JAL plane will take off this March!

As part of the Expo 2025 celebration, Japan Airlines (JAL) has teamed up with Gundam for a special collaboration featuring a new Mobile Suit-themed plane.
To be exact, this new collab is officially titled the “JAL x GUNDAM FLY TO THE FUTURE PROJECT,” and its highlight is the new JAL Gundam JET which is a Boeing 737-800 featuring a special livery
This livery not only features the RX-78F00/E (EX-001 Glass Feather Equipped) Gundam, but it also has a design that incorporates the Expo 2025 mascot Myaku-Myaku. Yes, this means the collab is also part of Gundam’s involvement at the upcoming Expo 2025 in Osaka which kicks off this April.
The special aircraft livery was revealed via the Japan Airlines website along with other details about the collab.
In case you missed it, the upcoming Expo 2025 will feature a Gundam Pavilion where visitors can see a life-sized Gundam statue which is made out of parts of the previous Yokohama mobile suit. The mobile suit in the JAL Jet’s livery is the same as the life-sized version at the Expo.
While Expo 2025 begins in April, this Gundam Jet will take off on March 3, 2025, and it will fly routes in the Kansai region. As a bonus, JAL will offer a domestic flight + accommodation package which will include a tour at Expo 2025 and a special JAL-designed Gunpla. More details on this will be shared soon.
For those who won’t be able to book the flight package, there will also be a second JAL-designed Gunpla that will be sold online. This features a different design from the Gunpla that will be included in the flight package.
Finally, Expo 2025 will feature a special JAL x Gundam Restaurant Bus where visitors can enjoy meals while at the event.
Expo 2025 is happening in Yumeshima Island in Osaka from April 13 to October 13, 2025.
In related news, there’s also a new Gundam MOMAX tech accessories collection that’s available in stores now.
