No crease? No Problem! Who's hyped for the OPPO Find N5?

There’s been quite the buzz as the upcoming OPPO Find N5 and its improved display crease nears its much-awaited launch this week. The brand’s SVP and CPO Pete Lau has been giving everyone the lowdown via social media, and things are looking pretty sleek. Lau boldly claimed “No crease detected” in his post, revealing the unfolded smartphone with the display turned off–showcasing its a rather smooth display in comparison to a rival brand.

This smoothness is likely due to their brand new Titanium Flexion Hinge featuring a 3D-printed titanium wing panel. It also includes a new five-spring torque system using waterdrop design which rolls part of the display. While its predecessors, including the Flip series have employed features to balance both a sleek form factor and functionality, this is rather sophisticated technology that’s indeed, new to the brand’s foldable Find series.

Creaselessness aside, OPPO has since confirmed several notable upgrades for the Find N5, including an impressive IPX9 water resistance rating, along with IPX6 and IPX8 certifications. This marks a significant improvement over the Find N3’s IPX4 rating, offering protection against powerful hot water jets, immersion, and increased pressure water jets. The device will also feature 50W wireless charging capabilities, with rumors suggesting 80W wired charging support.

Additional specifications are expected to include a substantial 5,600mAh battery and the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, though these details await official confirmation. The company’s teaser campaign has primarily emphasized the device’s thin profile, with its global unveiling set to happen this February 20, 2025.
