Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny remaster to launch on May 23

After its announcement last week, Capcom finally revealed that the Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny remaster will be released on May 23.

The original was released for the PS2 back in 2002, and it has since not gotten a re-release on other platforms. Thanks to this remaster, players will be able to experience (or re-experience) this beloved action adventure game in time for the release of Onimusha: Way of the Sword next year.

For this remaster, Capcom not only enhanced the visuals, but they also added new features such as the “Hell Mode” which is an even harder difficulty, along with quality-of-life features like skippable cutscenes and an auto-save mode.

To go along with the release date reveal, a new trailer was released which also confirmed that pre-orders are now live.

Pre-orders of the Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny remaster will come with a bunch of freebies, including the Onimusha 2: Orchestra Album Selection Pack and an Item Pack. The contents are as follows;

Orchestra Album Selection Pack- This selection contains 5 tracks from the “Onimusha 2 Orchestra Album – Taro Iwashiro Selection,” which was released in 2002 by Taro Iwashiro, the composer of “Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny.”

Finally, for players who have save data for Onimusha: Warlords, they will receive the Samanosuke Outfit for Jubei which is based on Samanosuke Akechi (the protagonist from the first game).

Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny will be released on May 23, 2025 for PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One and PC via Steam.
