Rakuten Viber is set to take its platform to new heights in the Philippines this 2025, rolling out exciting updates aimed at strengthening connections between users and businesses. At a recent event in Manila, the company’s senior management shared how Viber is evolving into a true super app, introducing new features that enhance engagement, streamline transactions, and expand its business tools.

With mobile usage in the Philippines continuing to rise—84% of internet activity comes from mobile devices—Viber is doubling down on innovations that make everyday interactions easier and more efficient. Building on its strong 2024 growth, the platform is enhancing its business tools, introducing AI-powered ads, and expanding its messaging capabilities to improve communication between brands and consumers.

Rakuten Viber for Business

One major highlight is the expansion of Viber Business Accounts, which have seen a lot of growth since their launch in the country. With a 194% increase in small business accounts and a 74% jump in consumer engagement, Viber is providing even more tools to help businesses connect with customers. Throughout 2025, premium features will be introduced to help brands boost visibility, attract new customers, and increase revenue.

On the larger business side, Viber for Business will see new ad formats and AI-powered messaging tools, making brand interactions more seamless. This includes interactive messages for booking appointments, providing feedback, and even showcasing personalized product offers that users can act on instantly. These improvements come in response to the growing demand for direct brand-user engagement, with business messages on Viber seeing a 53% growth in 2024 alone.

Dating in Viber

Beyond business, Viber is also tapping into personal connections with the launch of Viber Dating, an in-app matchmaking feature designed to help Filipinos meet and build relationships in a secure and private environment. The Philippines is one of the first countries to gain full access to this feature, and it has already attracted over 100,000 users in just a few days.

Rakuten Viber CEO Ofir Eyal emphasized the Philippines’ importance in shaping the company’s global strategy, highlighting how local insights influence their innovations. With these updates, Viber is reinforcing its commitment to making everyday interactions—whether for business or personal connections—more convenient, engaging, and secure for its users.
