SEGA releases The History of Goro Majima Chapter 1 ahead of Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii’s launch
Chapter 1 is all about how Majima became the Mad Dog of Shimano!
With Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii launching later this week, SEGA and RGG Studio released Chapter 1 of its new video series, The History of Goro Majima.
Pirate Yakuza is a significant game, not just because it’s the first Pirate-themed installment in the Like a Dragon series. There’s also the fact that this is the first-ever solo adventure for fan-favorite Goro Majima. While Majima was a playable character in Yakuza 0, this is the first game focused solely on the Mad Dog of Shimano.
As such, SEGA and RGG Studio have a new video series that looks back on the story of Majima, with the first fittingly being about how he earned his Mad Dog moniker.
What’s also cool about the video is that it’s narrated by Ayumi Tanda who plays Rodriguez in Pirate Yakuza.

This new series will be composed of three episodes, with the next one set to be released on February 18. According to SEGA, the next video will dig deep into Majima’s character through his many facial expressions.
If you’re a big Like a Dragon fan, chances are that you already know all about Majima’s story. Still, the new history of Majima video is a nice watch as it’s a nice trip down memory lane, especially if you consider the Mad Dog of Shimano as one of the best characters in the series (which he no doubt is).
Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii is coming out on February 21, 2025, on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.
