The HUAWEI Mate XT | ULTIMATE DESIGN tri-fold smartphone makes its global debut
HUAWEI finally debuted this pioneering new tablet globally alongside more new tech!

At the Innovative Product Launch held in Kuala Lumpur, HUAWEI held the global debut of the new Mate XT | Ultimate Design, the brand’s innovative new tri-fold phone. Alongside this new foldable, HUAWEI also showcased a PC-level tablet in its MatePad lineup, along with new accessories.
While the Mate XT was revealed before, the recent event served as the global launch of the phone, meaning it’s set to launch in various territories across the world.
There have been many foldable smartphones released in the last couple of years, but it’s fair to say that the Mate XT may be the most impressive one yet thanks to its tri-fold design. This means the phone has two hinges, making for a unique folding mechanism. This design also makes it both the thinnest foldable and the phone with the largest foldable display as it’s 3.6mm thin and is 10.2 inches wide when completely unfolded.
Even though it’s incredibly thin and has two hinges, HUAWEI promises that the phone will be durable for years thanks to its Advanced Precision Hinge System along with an ultra-large 322 cm² ultra-thin glass (UTG). It is also protected with 2nd Gen Kunlun Glass which is a first for a HUAWEI foldable.
Given that it has a huge screen when unfolded, it’s probably the closest foldable phone to a tablet in terms of size, making it a great match for users who want a tablet’s usability (for productivity and media consumption) while enjoying smartphone-like portability.
While the tri-fold screen is the phone’s biggest unique feature, it still promises to deliver flagship-level photography capabilities courtesy of the Ultra Aperture XMAGE Camera system which comes with a 10-size Adjustable Physical Aperture.
As for its battery, even though it’s super-thin, it packs a fairly large 5,600mAh battery coupled with 66W HUAWEI SuperCharge.
