Warner Bros. Japan recently announced that an All You Need is Kill anime adaptation is in the works from Studio 4°C, the studio behind various notable anime movies and shows.

To be exact, the studio is best known for working on the Berserk: Golden Age Arc movies and the Phoenix: Eden17 series in 2023. The studio’s latest project is an anime film adaptation of the popular Japanese sci-fi novel.

This new movie was announced via a new trailer that you can watch here:

Even if you’re not familiar with All You Need is Kill, chances are that you know the Hollywood movie Edge of Tomorrow starring Tom Cruise. Yes, that movie’s story is based on All You Need is Kill, the sci-fi light novel by Hiroshi Sakurazaka that was released back in 2004.

The Tom Cruise-led adaptation was released in 2014, and in the same year, a manga adaptation was serialized in Weekly Young Jump. It has been over a decade since both projects, so it’s a surprise to see that the novel is getting another adaptation.

This won’t be a straight-up adaptation of the novel though as, based on the trailer, the story will be shown through a different lens. Plus, the art style in the trailer is wildly different from the original light novel illustrations.

Directed by Kenichiro Akimoto, the All You Need is Kill anime movie is in the works, but there’s no word yet on a release date.
