Over a year after it was announced, MAPPA has finally confirmed that Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc will premiere in September.

At AnimeJapan 2025, the Chainsaw Man movie’s September 19 release date was confirmed during a stage event. While fans expected a new trailer, we didn’t get any new clips. On the flip side, we did get some new character art for Reze and the rest of the main cast.

What’s interesting about the upcoming movie is that the first season’s director Ryu Nakayama isn’t returning. Instead, directorial duties have been handed over to Tatsuya Yoshihara.

Given the director change, the upcoming movie seems to have a different look, at least based on the first trailer. Note that while the trailer features more colorful visuals, it’s not a massive departure from the first season as the character designs still look fairly similar.

It’s fair to say that the Reze arc was where the Chainsaw Man manga truly hit its stride, so there’s no doubt that plenty of fans to see this film. While the wait in Japan won’t be too long, there’s currently no word on an international release date.

Given the series’ popularity though, we expect to see Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc get an international theatrical release in late 2025, hopefully as early as October or November.
