Death Stranding 2: On the Beach SXSW trailer reveals June release date

Kojima Productions finally revealed the release date of Death Stranding 2: On the Beach via a new trailer released at SXSW 2025.

The new trailer is our best look yet at the next Death Stranding game as it’s 10 minutes long and features plenty of new scenes. Aside from action-packed moments, the trailer also showed off plenty of new environments, meaning DS2 should have a much more varied map compared to the first game.

For most fans though, the most exciting part of the trailer was the final sequences near the end. That’s because we saw a character that looks an awful lot like Solid Snake, not to mention that there’s a massive BT that dons a mecha head reminiscent of Metal Gear Rex.

We’re not sure if this means DS2 will be connected to Metal Gear as these might just be callbacks to Kojima’s classic stealth action series. Of course, this is a Kojima game, so we’re expecting the unexpected.

What we can say for certain is that the game’s Collector’s Edition is an impressive package. Priced at PHP 11,490 (SGD 318.90 / MYR 969 / IDR 3,349,000 / THB 7,449 / VND 5,799,000), this special edition includes a large Magellan Man Statue along with lots of other collectibles.
