Hololive VTuber Murasaki Shion announces her graduation in April

In what is no doubt more sad news for fans, Murasaki Shion of Hololive 2nd Generation has announced her graduation on April 26, 2025.

Much like other graduation announcements, the notice was initially announced by Murasaki Shion herself during a short stream on her official YouTube channel. It was eventually followed by an official announcement by Cover Corp.

During the seven-minute livestream, Shion thanked her fans for the support she received during her nearly seven years of activity as a Hololive member. She cited that this decision was due to the difference in the direction of the company and her recurring health issues, particularly her mental health.

This mental health issue was one of the reasons why she took her long break in December 2023 until August 2024. She also apologized if the sudden announcement was made during a big day, probably referring to the upcoming HoloFes 2025.

Near the end of the live stream, Shion stated that she wanted to elaborate on her graduation in better words on a following stream and wished her fans not to be swayed by rumors or speculations that may occur after her announcement.

After this announcement, many Hololive members, including Cover Corp CEO Yagoo, shared their thoughts and expressed their gratitude to Shion, wishing to spend more time until her graduation date.

Murasaki Shion’s graduation marks the second graduation for Hololive’s 2nd Generation VTuber talents, following Minato Aqua, who ended her activities on August 28, 2024.

This will also be the third time this year that a Hololive talent will conclude their activities following Ceres Fauna of Hololive English (Council/Promise) and Sakamata Chloe of Hololive 6th Generation (Secret Society holoX). Both held their last streams last January, although the latter remains an affiliate talent of Hololive despite concluding all personal activities.
