Kadokawa recently announced that the dark fantasy yuri manga I Want to Love You Till Your Dying Day is getting an anime adaptation.

This upcoming anime was announced with a stylish “Pilot Film” shared on the official Kadokawa Anime YouTube channel. As such, the clips shown in the video aren’t actual shots from the anime, as the Pilot Film is instead a concept video that should give fans an idea of what to expect.

You can watch the video here:

Along with the anime being in the works, the show’s four main cast members have also been revealed, all of whom are well-known Japanese VAs:

  • Rie Takahashi (Ai Hoshino in Oshi no Ko) as Sheena Totsuki
  • Rina Hidaka (Filo in The Rising of the Shield Hero) as Mimi Kagari
  • Asami Seto (Nobara Kugisaki in Jujutsu Kaisen) as Lizzy Seiran
  • Yui Ishikawa (Mikasa Ackerman in Attack on Titan) as Ali Maud

Based on the rather steamy yuri scenes from the Pilot Film, coupled with the dazzling moments shown, the I Want to Love You Till Your Dying Day anime is shaping up to be a must-watch. Of course, that’s if the actual anime series will live up to what was shown in the announcement video.

Working on the series’ animation is ROLL2, a fairly new studio that only has two other titles under its belt, namely Move to the Future and Love Is Indivisible by Twins. Fingers crossed that the team can do the series justice.

As for the manga, it began serialization in August 2018 via Comic Yuri Hime, and it has since gotten an official English release courtesy of Kodansha USA.

The series’ premise is described as:

“An orphanage for girls is actually a boot camp, turning out magical child soldiers for a gruesome war. Yet love finds a way to blossom amid bloodshed, in this dramatic, much-anticipated yuri manga that is spiritual kin to the likes of Revolutionary Girl Utena, Otherside Picnic, and Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch From Mercury.”

For now, there’s no word yet on when the anime will be released.
