It has been nearly a year since the third season premiered, so it’s great news that a KonoSuba anime sequel has finally been confirmed. Along with this, the Season 3 OVA‘s new characters and cast members have also been revealed.

The new KonoSube anime was announced via the anime’s official X (formerly Twitter) account. There, a video confirming that the sequel is in production was shared on March 14.

While this is great news for fans, the announcement was rather vague. Not only was there a lack of new clips in the video, but there was also no info on if the sequel will be a new season or a movie.

Most fans are no doubt hoping that this will mean KonoSuba Season 4 is official. On the flip side, this can also mean that the next light novel volume will be adapted into an anime movie. That was the case with the KonoSuba: Legend of Crimson movie which served as a sequel to Season 2 (and as such, is required viewing ahead of Season 3).

Given the lack of detail, we’ll likely have to wait a bit longer for more info. Thankfully, fans can at least look forward to the KonoSuba Season 3 OVA titled “Beware of Fakes!.”

Unlike the previous OVAs, this one for Season 3 consists of two episodes, and they are currently screening now in select Japanese cinemas. This will be followed by a home video release as part of the KonoSuba Season 3 Blu-Ray release.

As the title implies, the OVA will see a party that’s eerily similar to Kazuma’s band of misfits. These new characters are voiced by:

  • Tetsu Inada (Enji Todoroki in My Hero Academia) as Ozuma
  • Manaka Iwami (Akane Kurokawa in Oshi no Ko) as Aqua
  • Rumi Okubo (Astolfo in Fate/Apocrypha) as Megumi
  • Ayako Kawasumi (Saber in Fate/Stay Night) as Luckless

There’s no word yet on a release date for the KonoSuba OVA outside Japan, though we expect the new episodes to be released on streaming platforms such as Crunchyroll sometime in the future.
