Kowloon Generic Romance is a unique romance anime that premieres this April
This show promises to be quite different from your typical rom-com anime.

With the Spring 2025 anime season just a month away, the romance sci-fi series Kowloon Generic Romance finally got an official April release date.
While most romance anime titles are set in school (or at least in a Japanese office), this upcoming series has a unique setting. As its title implies, this show is set in the old Kowloon Walled City of Hong Kong, or at least a recreation of it.
As the show’s premiere is just a month away, the anime got a new trailer that you can watch here:
Animating the series is Arvo Animation, the studio behind shows such as A Returner’s Magic Should Be Special and We Never Learn: BOKUBEN.
The show stars:
- Haruka Shiraishi (Asirpa in Golden Kamuy) as Reiko Kujirai
- Tomokazu Suigita (Gintoki Sakata in Gitnama) as Hajime Kudo
- Ryotaro Okiayu (Byakuya Kuchiki in Bleach) as Miyuki Hebinuma
- Aoi Koga (Kaguya Shinomiya in Kaguya-sama: Love is War) as Yomei
- Sayumi Suzushiro (Nijika Ijichi in Bocchi the Rock) as Xiaohei
- Kengo Kawanishi (Gen Asagiri in Dr. Stone) as Yulong
- Taito Ban (Sung Jin-woo in Solo Leveling) as Tao Guen
Meanwhile, its premise is described as:
Ordinary memories of a world where no one is at fault are sorrowfully reflected in Kujirai’s glasses. But what does Kudou think of the world…? What if Kowloon disappears? It doesn’t matter if it’s a tragedy, because the future absolutely is up to oneself. Beyond the emotions that are conveyed and the everyday life that passes by, the true form of Kowloon is revealed?!
Kowloon Generic Romance will premiere on April 5, 2025. Currently, there’s no word yet on a streaming platform partner outside Japan.
Aside from this new show, Spring 2025 promises to be a big one as it will also have plenty of notable new anime, including Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuux and Lazarus.
