Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX -Beginning- is coming to cinemas in the Philippines

Following its theatrical release in Japan last month, Pinoy fans should get ready as Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX -Beginning- is coming to cinemas in the Philippines this March.

The film’s PH release was initially revealed by Encore Films, the distributor of many notable anime films in the country. To be exact, Encore Films revealed via its official Facebook page that the upcoming Gundam anime will be released in Philippine cinemas soon.

The initial announcement didn’t include an official release date. Soon after though, the Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX -Beginning- PH release date was confirmed to be on March 5, 2025, via SM Cinema.

In case you’re unfamiliar, Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX -Beginning- is a theatrical cut of the upcoming GQuuuuuuX series. The film version serves as a preview of what to expect as it’s an edited version of the show’s early episodes.

What makes GQuuuuuuX significant (aside from its unusual title) is the fact that it’s co-written by Hideaki Anno, the creator of Neon Genesis Evangelion. Plus, Anno’s Studio Khara is also co-producing the series alongside Sunrise.

GQuuuuuuX’s premise is described as:

“Amate Yuzuriha is a high-school student living peacefully in a space colony floating in outer space.

When she meets a war refugee named Nyaan, Amate is drawn into the illegal mobile suit dueling sport known as Clan Battle.

Under the entry name “Machu,” she throws herself into fierce battle day after day, piloting the GQuuuuuuX. Then an unidentified Gundam mobile suit pursued by both the space force and the police appears before her, along with its pilot, a boy named Shuji.“

The GQuuuuuuX anime series will premiere on April 8, 2025.
