POCO recently gave us a taste of some midrange gaming goodness, but they just kicked things up a notch with the new POCO F7 Ultra. The brand has brought us quite the formidable series of gaming smartphones that offer quality playtime at varying price ranges. While they arguably, haven’t reached the absolute pinnacle of the gaming zenith just yet, their new F series monster just might have what it takes.

Without spoiling too much, we’ll simply kick things off with what’s been hyped up so far–a 3-nanometer Snapdragon 8 Elite processor. When we’re talking about this much horsepower, we’re looking at a very serious contender in the gaming space. Having gotten our mitts on it for a few days, we’re quite impressed.

Speaking of design, our unit with the slick, black colorway is gorgeous. That combination of a matte and glossy finish merging seamlessly up top might snag a few fingerprints, but you can’t deny that it looks pretty sweet. That camera setup housing a 50MP main shooter looks pretty spiffy, too. A nice departure from last year’s model. While we’ll go more in depth at a later time, a little sneak peek won’t hurt.

As for overall heftiness and hand feel, it’s just about as light as your usual POCO phone–and those flat edges are just icing on the cake.

Given the power the POCO  F& Ultra is packing, coupled with Xiaomi HyperOS, the apps simply glide as you swipe in every direction. It’s a smooth experience all around, and we’re looking forward to even more improvements after a couple of software updates–which will definitely arrive. That 6.67-inch 2K POLED display works darn well with its 120Hz refresh rate. It’s quite bright, too. Even if you crank things up.

You get the same proprietary game engine which can boost the smartphone’s overall performance once you fire up your favorite title. We’ve played a few games–which have all run smoothly, but we’d rather save all the juicy details for the full review.

As we’ve had the phone for a few days, we’ve also gotten some great experience, batter-wise. Since the POCO F7 Ultra sports a 5300 mAh battery and 120W HyperCharge, it’s safe to say we were able to game for longer, and get back much faster.

Hopefully, we kept things vague enough to whet your appetite. The POCO F7 Ultra will be coming much sooner than you think, and once it hits Philippine soil, bet believe we’ll give you the nitty gritty, and then some.
