Silent Hill f gets first trailer showcasing its 1960s rural Japan setting
The new Silent Hill game reminds us of Siren and Fatal Frame.

Konami finally shared the first trailer for Silent Hill F, the next upcoming game in the popular horror game franchise.
Technically, the Silent Hill 2 remake was the latest entry in the series, though if you only count mainline installments, f is the first one in over a decade. For reference, Silent Hill: Downpour was the last main entry, and it was released back in 2012.
In case you missed its initial reveal, Silent Hill f is a major departure from previous mainline entries. Instead of being set in Silent Hill, this game takes place in 1960s Japan, specifically in the old town of Ebisugaoka.
The new trailer gives us a taste of what to expect, and it introduces the protagonist Shimizu Hinako. You can watch the new Silent Hill f trailer here:
For this new Silent Hill game, Konami assembled an all-star team, featuring writer Ryukishi07, best known for his work on Higurashi When They Cry and Umineko When They Cry. Also part of the team is illustrator and monster designer kera, composer Akira Yamaoka, and producer Motoi Okamoto.
Meanwhile, the game’s premise is described as:
In the remote mountain town of Ebisugaoka, teenager Shimizu Hinako leads an unremarkable life—until a thick fog descends, transforming her once-familiar home into a desolate and terrifying place. With the town seemingly abandoned and an unknown, creeping menace lurking in the mist, Hinako must navigate the spectral remnants of her past, solve intricate puzzles, and battle horrifying entities to survive.
Faced with impossible decisions, she must ultimately choose between beauty and madness, confronting the horrors that await within the fog.
Even though the trailer did not reveal much (as it didn’t feature gameplay footage), seeing it did get us excited. After all, the rural Japan setting makes it reminiscent of 2000s horror classics like Siren and Fatal Frame. Here’s hoping this game delivers when it eventually gets released.
Silent Hill f will be released on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. For now, there’s no word yet on a release date.
