Shortly after the latest Nintendo Direct, it was confirmed that Nintendo is planning to finally launch Switch Online and the eShop in the Philippines and three other SEA countries.

Specifically, the official Nintendo Southeast Asia Facebook page mentioned that the they are “working to launch online services, including Nintendo Switch Online and the Nintendo eShop” in the Philippines and other select Southeast Asian countries.

The announcement also mentioned that details will be shared at a later date, though this is still great news overall, especially considering that the Nintendo Switch eShop and online services have not been officially released in the country.

For Switch buyers in the Philippines, the recommendation has always been to create a Nintendo account where the country is set to either the US or Hong Kong. This is so that players can buy games on the eShop, as well as access online services for multiplayer.

The announcement doesn’t confirm when the Nintendo eShop and other online services will be officially released in the Philippines, though this is great news as we can at least expect the services to support PH gamers at some point in the future.

As for the Switch 2, the console is confirmed to launch sometime between July and September 2025 – slightly delayed from the Japan and US launch, but at least the console is officially launching in the PH this year.
