At the recent Nintendo Direct, RGG Studio announced Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut, and it’s coming to the Switch 2 on launch day.

Back in October, RGG Studio released Yakuza Kiwami for the Switch, making it the first Like a Dragon game to be released on Nintendo’s console. Now, RGG Studio is gearing up to launch Yakuza 0 for the Switch successor; a fitting choice given that Yakuza 0 is perhaps the most popular game in the series.

This Director’s Cut promises to deliver a mostly similar experience, though it has some key enhancements. Among these are the brand-new cutscenes. Presumably, the original game’s static cutscenes will be fully animated in this new version. Plus, the game will come with an exclusive game mode.

For many fans, the highlight is no doubt the addition of new cutscenes, though the new game mode is also interesting. Titled Red Light Raid, this is the first online multiplayer mode for a Yakuza game, and it will let three players team up to take on missions together. In this mode, players can choose from a roster of 60 characters.

Another new addition is additional English and Chinese voiceover, making this Yakuza 0 version perhaps the definitive way to experience the beloved Like a Dragon series entry.

Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut is coming to the Switch 2 on June 5, 2025 – the same day as the console’s launch.

While the game will be released initially on the Switch 2 only, the game is a timed-exclusive and will be released sometime in the future on other platforms. This was revealed on Nintendo’s website which mentions that the game will “launch first” on Switch 2.
